I have my RUL removed using VATS surgery. I was in the hospital about 4 days then went to a nearby hotel. I had some nerve pain after but took mild drugs. That was 4 years ago, I have no symptoms at all and all cancer was removed. Glad I did that.
Great question — and it's clear you're doing your homework, which really does make a difference. Here's a breakdown of what the lobectomy process typically looks like:

Hi Brian
I had a lower right lobectomy 3 months ago. I had the DaVinci robot, but still had to get cut because my lung was greatly attached to the chest wall. I am totally numb on my right abdomen due to nerve damage. I am happy to be cancer free right now, but am quite disappointed with my outcome. Gabapentin does nothing.
Hello, I had Thoriac Surgery. I had a small nodule on my left lung which tested positive for Small Carcinoma Stage1 1st i have too truly thank god for getting through all my fear, my anxiety, i was so, so scared
Wondering about my test results I mean e wry last one.
All came back good. Had my surgery it was a success. Only stayed in hospital for one day. Yeah it's painful after surgery. Of course it depends everyone is different or my have different experiences. I no how it's feels to worry about the outcome. I believe if it's caught earlier on you can possibly over come in time. Im Cancer Free IM GREATFUL TO GOD . MY HUSBAND, MY FAMILY AS A WHOLE THEY WERE THERE FOR ME IN MY DARKEST TIMES.SO HANG IN THERE EVERYONE WHO'S GOING THROUGH MY EXPERIENCE
I had part of the upper left lobe removed with BATS. 3 days in the hospital and then home. I still have some pain in the incision area. I have COPD and emphysema. They tested my lung capacity before surgery. I was lucky and did not need oxygen after surgery because my capacity was good enough. Recovery takes time like any major surgery. Do the breathing exercises and walk.
