Hi, decided to go for treatment. Chemo (carboplatin) immuno (Keytruda) and (Denosumab (for bone protection). She mentioned how it was for two years then a break and could go back on it if working. Mind you reading the sheets of side effects it’s scary! Got to try. Have been offered lots of support by team so we shall see. Would be interested in anyone on these drugs. Starting after Xmas
It says on my forms it is?
Greetings Tina!
The carboplatin probably isn't for a year. Check with your doctor or infusion nurse.
I've had carboplatin twice. The first time in 2020 was in conjunction with radiotherapy when I had 1 infusion per week for 8 weeks. I had no side effects from it. I didn't lose any hair.
The second time was in 2022 as one half of the chemo cocktail that I was given every 3 weeks for 4 cycles (infusions). The other chemo agent was Taxol, which did severely affect me. I also started my immunotherapy of Keytruda at the same time.
After I was off of chemotherapy and only receiving Keytruda, I experienced an ongoing itchy, bumpy rash and daily fatigue. I did 2 years on Keytruda and now, 15 months after stopping, I still have the rash and fatigue.
I have a prescription for Triamcinolone Cream for the rash and also use Eucerin Cream as well. They work well and if I use them daily.
The fatigue is nothing that stops me from doing what I want to do, but just enough excuse to not do what I don't care to do. : )
Stay positive!
Tony

It's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed by those side effect sheets—they can be scary! The good news is that your team is offering lots of support, which makes a real difference.
