I’ve been told no sugar for 24 hours and then I was told that’s just for diabetics! Nothing for 12 hours before just water, but no caffeine or chocolate for 24 hours before who knows?

For a PET scan, you will likely need to refrain from eating for at least a few hours before the scan. Some scans require you not to eat for six hours. Additionally, you may be asked to avoid exercise for up to 24 hours before the scan. Always follow the specific instructions given by your healthcare provider.

No food for 12 hrs and only water up to 2 hrs before scan is what I was told

Mine are usually 12 hours no sugar, caffeine or chocolate and at least 6 hours nothing to eat or drink. The sugar part is because it messes with the dye uptake, the no food/drink part is so the dye doesn't make you throw up.

I wasn't given a specific diet. No intense exercise and no food/drinks for 6 hours before scan. No heavy exercise for 24 hours after. Could take my meds with a swallow if water in the morning. With hold all diabetic meds for that morning until after test. Night meds take as normal the night before.
