Hey Betty: Please talk to staff of hospice. They will try to make your husband as comfortable as possible. They will give you the best possible instructions that will take your husband's wishes and safety into consideration.. i know it's hard. My prayers are with you and your husband. Take care.

Just update we go home on hospice today. I'm really nervous and scared. I pray I have the strength to take care of him till the end. I would like to thank everyone here for there support and hugs it has really helped me

In hospice care, the focus shifts from fighting the illness to comfort and quality of life. Loss of appetite at this stage is natural, and forcing food can actually cause discomfort rather than help. That said, if he does show any interest in eating, here are some gentle ways to support him:

- Offer small amounts of his favorite foods, no pressure
- Try soft or cold foods that are easier to manage
- Avoid strong food smells, which can be off-putting
- Offer sips of smoothies, juice, or nutritional shakes if he's willing
- Let him lead — even a few bites when he feels like it matters

The hospice team will include professionals who can guide you both through this. Lean on them heavily — that's exactly what they're there for. You don't have to figure this out alone.
