Yes but you have to pay full price. For me it was over $900 for 2 shots. Now I have my $2100 deductible in for year, so the rest is free. I am thankful for charge cards!! If it doesn’t work, at least I only paid for the first month.

Drug-induced lung inflammation, known as pneumonitis, is a known side effect of certain lung cancer treatments. It can cause breathing difficulties and is typically treated with corticosteroids like prednisone, which is exactly what your oncologist has prescribed. A MyLungCancerTeam member shared a similar experience after developing pneumonitis following treatment. They were placed on steroids for an extended period and found recovery to be a slow, difficult process — but they continued moving forward with their treatment journey.
Recovery from pneumonitis can take time, and tapering prednisone gradually (as your doctor is doing) is the standard approach. Some things worth discussing with your oncologist include:
- How long recovery typically takes in your situation
- What signs to watch for that would require urgent attention
- Whether any additional imaging or monitoring is planned
- What breathing support options are available if needed
Please don't hesitate to voice your fears directly to your oncologist. A second opinion is also always a reasonable option if your doubts persist. Your concerns are valid and deserve to be fully addressed.
