I lost my hair 2 months after I finished chemo. My oncologist said that I should have lost it while on chemo. I am a retired nurse and it came to my mind that low thyroid can cause hair loss along with extreme fatigue that I was experiencing. I am on Levothyroxine & asked my PCP to check on my thyroid and it was very low. Once the medication was adjusted my hair stopped coming out and my energy returned.
I have non small cell lung cancer with brain metastasis, chemo x every 21 days x 4 & brain stereotactic radiation.x 1, I take a chemo targeted pill daily. Got good reports on Pet scan & brain MRI last week. I am 79 years old & my hair is returning. May God bless all of you with cancer. He was with me through it all! Diagnosed in June 2024.
The Carboplatin and etoposide made my hair fall out over three weeks. I shaved my head to keep things even and tidy. I'm on imfinzi now and it's grown back gray and wavy, no more blond. That was my first hair cut in fifty years. I like it fine now. 😅
I lost about 2/3 of my hair. I had waist length hair and it was coming out by the handfuls. It was depressing so I got it cut super short.
I lost all my hair and it came back curly and silver. Actually kind of cool. My oncologist offers a treatment to got with Chemo that goes a long way in keeping your hair. Several of the people I see regularly at the infusion center swear by it. Ask your med team.
