Your doctor preferences and cancer center policy usually. My 1st center ordered every 3 months on both. My current doctor and center goes by need. Usually it's CT every 3 months for monitoring of tumors. If there are significant changes to tumors they'll order a PET to determine if cancer is growing or dying. I am having my first PET since March as my CT indicated the treatment is having an effect so they want more accurate data provided by PET over CT.
