After CT/PET scans then a biopsy and MRI on the brain then I saw my oncologist again. Chemo began about 6.5 weeks after diagnosed. Obviously our treatment plans are different. The holidays interrupted my schedule but so far very successful. You have a great support team at home and with this group. Stay focused in doing what you can and remain positive and strong. You should take your most studious daughter (or son) with you to take notes and ask questions. Reading thru your posts, I didn't see any mention of bio-marker or genetic test results on your biopsy. Be sure and ask about them, if the tests were done. If not, ask that they be done. This may allow targeted therapy.

It's hard to say when chemo would start. Your oncologist should go over your tests, show you the images, tell you his diagnosis and what they can do for you. He may want other tests before you start treatment. Once you decide on a treatment plan, he has to schedule labs, his appointment/time, as well as a chair in the Infusion Clinic.

If you are worried about losing weight, EnsurePlus has 350 calories per 8 oz drink. They go down easy. Walmart has an EquatePlus equivalent at a much lower price. When you don't have an appetite, you have to make yourself eat or drink something. It's easier for me than chewing (tasting) and swallowing.

And try not to worry. It is never as bad as we imagine.

You first have to know what the treatments would be, there are alternatives to Chemo. It all depends on your test results and on your Oncologist. Have someone with you that would also be aware of what the Oncologist is recommending and to ask questions. If you have to begin Chemo, get as much advise on how to prepare and what to do to lessen the side effects.

It just depends on the availability, what type of treatment etc. When I was 1st diagnosed 2 years ago I started my treatments about a month after my diagnosis, 2 weeks after I saw my Oncologist.

I guess I am going to be getting Keytuda (bad spelling)..i don't know if that requires a port. Like all of us, it's learn as you go & i’m not really good about that.. Know that my thoughts and prayers and with you, as 🙏 are sent out to all of us🍀✨
