Hi Mickey thanks for the answer. The oncologist recommended he goes home while the lung doctor said to stay in the hospital. Dad had a choice and he's choosing the hospital at moment. We will go back and forth to the hospital for 1 week for the duration of his medication.

Yes there can be disagreement between specialists as to antibiotic of choice. I personally only go to UCLA where they use a team approach consisting of Doctors who work together routinely.
The goal also has to do with Quality of life as well as length of life. I have witnessed both. One brother died of Melanoma and choose home death with nurses visiting him. He had a miserable end of life as did his family. A close friend died in hospital and had acute anxiety. She was heavily medicated but they let me stay with her until death. Her quality of death was better. My lung cancer was Stage 1 and I had surgery, no drugs. It has been over 4 years and many scans but no evidence of cancer. However should I relapse I don't want to extend life. I do want less pain. The patient has a choice. My husband died very fast. While I miss him, I was glad that he had no struggles at the end.

I would consider the doctor and institution as to quality of care. I have sadly seen friends die because of going to the wrong doctors. I drove 6 hours to UCLA and also flew there. My close hospital didn't have cancer treatment specialists. So don't just trust one Dr over another. It may be easiest to stay in hospital. My family did that with my dad after repeated heart attacks. At the end his mind was not working. My lawyer brother and I made the final decision to let him stay in a nursing home and not go to hospital. We knew his mind was gone for good. We had legal Power of Attorney, required in USA.
He died within days. I have no regrets and my brother and I grew closer.
My dad was given morphine so he had no pain.

I don’t get treatment and I have stage 4 lung cancer. I would just agree with what he says. Right now it is his world, his perceptions. God’s blessings all over your family

Good question I will continue to follow your posts. We need each other to continue this journey. Some don't have people in our lives who can support our decisions.
