I've. had many Cts since quit smoking over 20 years ago. The Ct spotted my tumor in 2017. Presently , i have concerns about the wear and tear on my kidneys from the dyes used . It's a crap shoot either way. I'll take the risk for the benefits of early detection of a recurrence. Presently, my cancer is stable. Good luck to all.

Generally speaking CT Scans are more of a tracking amd diagnostic tool. Much like and Xray, MRI or PET Scan. They can show the rate of progression or success based on the treatment recei ed. But they don't predict the outcome.

Predicting the outcome is based on the success rate of the treatment being received.

For instance. An oncologist may opt to use R-CHOP Chemotherapy over R-EPOCH to treat a specific type of Lung can er based on previous successful outcomes based on comparing the current patient with previous patient success rates because the previous patients cancers are identical or similar to the current patient. Based on the sex, age, comorbidities, current medicatioms amd similar life styles betwwwn the two patients.

Keep in mind. Just asceaxh person isxdiffwrenr. So are the can cers and how each person may or may not respond to the same treatments or type of Chemo used.

I've had 14 CT's or PET/CT's since 2020, plus 35 sessions of IMRT (radiotherapy). I'm surprised my head hasn't fallen off.
The radiotherapy did give me painful neck spasms.
I was told by a radiologist that if the radiation exposure were to cause cancer or a recurrence, it would take many years. They worry more about the long term affect on younger people. Thyroid and breast cancer being the most frequent cases that may have been linked to earlier exposure. They don't have good numbers concerning a recurrence because they can't tell the difference.
For IMRT, the stats show a 5% increased risk of developing a secondary cancer. That's ok, if I hadn't had that, surgery would have left me disfigured and speaking through a hole in my throat and being fed through a PEG tube the rest of my life.
