Members rallied around a spouse whose husband was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and was not eating, growing weak, and experiencing confusion. Several members strongly urged calling an ambulance and going to the ER right away, noting he may be dehydrated and in need of IV fluids, with one member sharing that ambulance transport can be warmer and less exhausting. Practical tips included checking oxygen levels at home since low oxygen can cause confusion, offering high-protein easy-to-digest foods like egg custard, and trying high-calorie drinks like Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with ice cream.

Sorry to have to go through this we hope the Dr's get started with your husband soon. He needs to get strength enough to get medical attention. Get lots of Drinks, plenty of rest, items with protein might help too. Thinking of you both.

I really think some medical intervention is needed. I know for me I was able to call my oncologist actually my husband would when chemo would get me so sick I could not eat or drink. I was able to go for iv's and lived on carnation instant breakfast mixed with ice cream or sherbet. Calories and not too bad on flavor.

I also agree with call an ambulance. that will keep him warm, and be less exhausting. Get him into the hospital as soon as possible.

There's many of us here I have noticed with different reasons for not eating as much as we should.
Personally I have issues with eating, as my the tumor although perfect when you look at it for an operation until you see it's moved and grown into the spinal canal along with the ribs on the same side. If my tummy gets full it pushes and against the spine . knowing it's going to hurt and drink warm water, not too hot. Not too cold, and graze.
Some pain medication cause horrific constipation.
When he comes back home, a high protein. Easy digestable foods like egg custard, ask hubby what he might be craving.
Do you have a decent oxygen meter at home? Low oxygen levels make me it's extremely confused and dizzy
You and he will get through this. Take care of it. You too.
