I agree with you Harry. I was stage 4 EGFR when I was diagnosed in June of 23 age 72.. I was reading to much about survival rates and getting depressed. I try to eat well and maintain a good attitude. I get scans every 3 months take tagrisso 80mg and a blood thinner I still do what I like which is volunteer work at the fire company as a fire policeman, kayak, walk, fish an also involved with the Elks and local Corvette Club. I do have a bad day sometimes but it is usually because of some spicy foods I eat which I know I shouldn't. I gave up alcohol, drink more water and say a prayer of thanks everyday I get up, Good luck to all.

I developed Stage 1 NSCLC, ADENOCARCINOMA, in 2022. I had surgery immediately at UCLA. I have had repeated contrast CT scans, no cancer. I was diagnosised accidentally. But I go to several ucla clinics near my home, and 78 years old and feel fine. My older brother had the same cancer and he survived too, is age 84. Early diagnosis is so important.

There are many factors which can influence survival out come of NSCLC. Yes Stage can play a significant role. However, I was diagnosed with Stage 4. The cancer did not matastisize. It was isolated to both lungs. Other factors are age, Specific type of Lung Camcer, Type of Chemotherapy and immunotherapy meds used and how each person responds to them. Waa the cancer caused by Environmemtal, Genetic or Artifivial Factors? Any combination of these factors can increase or decrease the success and life expectancy of the patient.

Somecother factors include diet, stress and exercise as well as the the patient's overall health prior to the diagnosis. One other factor may be the patient's mental health and out look.

Personally, I don't place much weight on survival statistics, mainly because by the tome they are published, new treatments have changed the survival rate.
