Brigitte, as many have said, it's every individual's different story. For me, the memory hiccups are frustrating, never sure when they'll hit. 4 short years ago I could keep up with Jeopardy! daily (no Ken Jennings, but decent) and now it's more like "What is, oh, that thing...." 🙄
Notes, notes and more notes. My calendars (written and on my phone) help, but that's for important stuff. Remembering why I walked into a room isn't funny, but why I went into the produce section is right there on my phone.
All that said, I'm grateful to be here as so many are not, and will continue this battle through thick and thin!! Wishing you all the best!
My only answer can be my own expierences. I could get up and go to the bathroom, living room, or kitchen and become frustrated because I felt like an idiot because I'd forgotten why I was there and struggle to remember why, usually I couldn't figure it out. I even resorted to opening cabinets, refrigerator doors hoping to remember. I spoke to my Oncologist and said I think I may be getting Alzeheimers disease because of what's going on. He assured me it was the drugs, but I haven't had any chemo since March 8th and I still can't remember sometimes and that thought doesn't return to where I tell myself, Oh, that's why! I also have balance issues, I walk through a doorway and bump into it, bruising my arms and head. I'd like an answer too. Dr did order a PET Scan and my brain showed no cancer. I'm having a new CT Tue morning
Welcome to the "I can't remember things" I had surgery and radiation for recurrent cancer in the lower lobe. No side effects except memory & brain fog. My sister had "documented Chemo Brain" and her memory never did get back to normal.
I do puzzles online, Triva Quizes, read all the time. I'm not as bad short term as I was and long term, ask me anything and I remember. So, Brigitte M start doing things to challenge your mind. I had to memorize times tables in in Elementary school, those nun's were strict. So I run them in my head and anything to get the brain moving🤩
It takes me a while to get from my head to my mouth. Ugh!
Memory and me are still getting to know each other. I enjoy alot of games wheel of fortune, jeopardy, card games on my tablet, it takes me longer than I want to admit. I'm just happy to still be able to do things, feed myself, be a great grandma, one day at a time is my favorite ❤ word. Enjoy what you can, even if my cancer has metastasis I still enjoy alot. Watching Earth Wind And Fire tonight on TV. I might even be dancing a little. Enjoy your evening!
