Yes, adjuvant chemotherapy can be given after surgery to help prevent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) from returning. While it cannot guarantee the cancer won't come back, it can improve survival rates and increase the chances of better outcomes. This is especially important for early-stage cancer patients whose doctors believe there's a high risk of recurrence. Common chemotherapy medications used for NSCLC include:
• Gemcitabine (Gemzar)
• Paclitaxel
• Pemetrexed (Alimta)
• Vinorelbine (Navelbine)
• Carboplatin
• Cisplatin
• Docetaxel
• Nab-paclitaxel
These medications work by targeting rapidly dividing cells throughout the body. They're typically given in cycles over about three weeks to allow recovery time between treatments. Additionally, newer treatment options like immunotherapy can help fight NSCLC. Immunotherapy works by helping your immune system recognize and attack cancer cells. Some common immunotherapy medications include:
• Atezolizumab (Tecentriq)
• Ipilimumab (Yervoy)
• Nivolumab (Opdivo)
• Pembrolizumab (Keytruda)

I'd be interested to know this too.

I was diagnosed with Stage 4a NSCLC in 2021. I had 16 months of immotherapy (every 3 weeks) and have been stable for almost 2 years. I have heard that there is an oral medication that helps to prevent breast cancer from returning. My question is I’d there is a similar drug for lung cancer.
