I had a right Pneumonectomy 2 years ago and the first year was a challenge in terms of fatigue. I also had rounds of chemo after surgery. Now I can say that life is a new normal. I am still challenged with stairs and hills but can walk on flat surfaces easily. Also started Pilates again and back to pickleball. Travelling has been a breeze as well.
I hope to hear if others who have it are recovering from a right lung removal.

I didn't have a pneumonectomy but I had a right upper lobectomy via open surgery. My doctor did some kind of nerve freeze called a Cryo Nerve Block (here is the link https://www.atricure.com/patients-caregivers/cr.... This block lasted weeks so my pain was well controlled. I had two broken ribs with hardly any pain. It's worth asking your doctor about. Good Luck with your surgery.

I had Right upper lobectomy via the invasive thoracotomy. The Chest tube was very uncomfortable but they had an epidural with a constant pain med infusion going. You're able to hit the button to get a bolus dose. That really helped. I went home after 3 days. Its difficult to get comfortable for sleep. For me getting up and walking was better than laying down. I was definitely sleep deprived. Use the breathing machines religiously. Its a rough surgery but I stayed active and I think that helped recovery.
