Members shared their experiences with carboplatin-based chemotherapy regimens for lung cancer, with most reporting manageable but cumulative side effects including fatigue, nausea, hair thinning, neuropathy, loss of appetite, and changes in taste. Several members described practical coping strategies such as anti-nausea medications taken in rotation, proactive nutrition with fresh fruits and iron-rich foods, regular exercise and walking, salt water rinses, wearing chemo caps to manage hair loss, and staying ahead of symptoms before they worsen. A recurring theme was that while the first few days after treatment were often the hardest, many found hope in positive treatment outcomes, with some achieving years of remission or tumor shrinkage, and the community offered steady encouragement rooted in faith and shared resilience.

Hi Cindy. I had the Alimta with Cisplatin only 4 rounds at the standard 21 day intervals. Good results so far, tho neuropathy is terrible. The old platinum meds are supposed to be the hardest but work well. As usual day 3/4 would begin a stretch of weakness. Minimal nausea and hair loss. Lowered my magnesium. Still a good combo imo.

I just started Carbo with Abraxane and an immunotherapy. I didn't have any issues until this week after the 3rd dose. The fatigue everyone mentions hit me. My hair is definitely thinning out but not falling in clumps. With Abraxane hair loss is common. I've tried to be proactive. Started drinking Metamucil with OJ. doing salt water and baking soda rinses even though I don't have mouth sores, exercising by walking or aerobics with you tube, still.going to yoga. Eating tons of fresh fruits and veggies. Trying to increase foods with iron. They say the effects of chemo are cumulative but so far I'm ok. Also doing light weights. My biggest fear is neuropathy but so far I'm not having problems.

Cindy I am taking Carbo and Taxol… and have since 2020 for my lung nodules. I go off for about a year after they shrink, then they began to grow again. I have numerous nodules in both lungs so not a candidate for surgery. When I first started Carbo/Taxol it was a breeze not much symptoms mostly fatigue. Now after 5 years, I have nausea, bone pain and neuropathy in fingers, feet and toes.

I was on Taxol and carboplatin a few years ago. The first 2 days after treatment were the worst. I was nauseous some vomiting. I just slept most of the days. I had it every three weeks for 3 months. It did help my cancer stayed away for 5 years.

It is a starter chemo drug given before radiation or in conjunction with it. I tolerated it well just stomach pain and fatigue, no appetite. Did you get your test results back yet?
