I've had good results with Mucinex DM.

I have had a persistent cough since January when I had to be hospitalized. The doctors prescribed cough medicine (Promethazine-DMSYP), which helps quite a bit. My left lung produces a clear phlem that comes up inducing the cough. It can be very annoying especially at night.

I agree with @A MyLungCancerTeam Member. Talk to your doc. They can probably give you a stronger cough med to let you sleep.
