Lung cancer with segmentectomy in 2017... recurrence in 2023. Lobectomy 02/16/24 and now chemo. Non-smoker
First time stage 1 adenocarcinoma. I think this time they said 2B with clean margins. They also find biomarker EGFR 20 exon.
Hi Judy. I was treated with Cisplatin, Pemetrexed and Keytruda for 5 infusions. Then just Pemetrexed and Keytruda as maintenance. I had a bad reaction to Keytruda and it was stopped but I continued with Pemetrexed ever 4 weeks for about a year. I’ve been off chemo for 12 months now and doing well.
Cisplatin is pretty strong. I had to have fluids before infusion and the day after. I lost much of my hair and it came back curly. Both Cisplatin and Pemetrexed cause the usual nausea, fatigue for about 5 days. The anti nausea meds helped.
Hi Judy. I have NSCLC adenocarcinoma diagnosed in February 2022. Lobectomy of the upper right lobe March 2022. Didn’t get clean margins so stage 3A. Started chemo in April, pemetrexed and cisplatin, once every three weeks for four sessions with simultaneous radiation every day for 30 days, excluding weekends. Then I started immunotherapy once every three weeks for a year. Finished that last September, 2023.
My side effects from chemo were mild compared to many others. My stomach was really unsettled for two or three days following infusion, exhausted even after awakening in the morning, my hair thinned and broke off, my joints ached and I dealt with some neuropathy.
What type and stage is your cancer?
So sorry you are dealing with this again. Stay strong and positive. Sue
