I finished Radiation in November.
In January I started coughing a lot I could not keep my oxygen level up.
Went from using No ox To full time oxygen. One of the side effects of radiation is Pneumonitis. That is what I got. I am feeling a little better now and can keep my oxygen level up with No help From oxygen tank.
I had 30 radiation treatments and 15 chemo. Finished them first of Nov, 2023. My breathing has gotten so bad I can’t walk to my mailbox. I’m on oxygen almost 24/7. I have stage 1 small cell confined to upper right lung nodule. Confined to nodule only. Brain Scan last week is clean. Pet scan 6 wks ago once I was finished with treatments showed 75% of cancer gone, said a small spot remained. Not sure if it is scar tissue or cancer so I had 3 more chemo treatments. My next pet scan is Feb 26. I’m not comfortable with this wait, and the answer of “ not sure if spot is cancer or scar tissue????? Does the breathing ever get better? Someone mentioned Viagra was used to improve breathing when also suggesting from COPD? Has anyone heard this or been on it for breathing....... I’m a female!! Lol
May need to be doing PET scan
I just finished radiation a week ago. I had 5 treatments of 3D radiation and no side effects or cough.
Yes, I do & it can be violent. I think they call it exacerbations. My oncologist & Pulmonologist thinks it's from radiation. This seems to be worse than the cancer. My last treatment was 5 years ago. I had 30 radiation treatments.
