  • Penn Medicine will host its 13th annual Focus on Lung Cancer Virtual Conference on Friday, Nov. 5.
  • The conference will feature oncologists, mental health care providers, and other cancer specialists.
  • Individuals with lung cancer and their family members and caregivers are encouraged to attend.

On Nov. 5, Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center, in partnership with the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, will host the 13th annual Focus on Lung Cancer Virtual Conference. The virtual conference will begin at 7:30 a.m. EDT and focus on both non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer.

The Focus on Lung Cancer Virtual Conference will address both medical and lifestyle issues for people living with lung cancer. Those encouraged to attend include:

  • People at risk for lung cancer
  • Individuals newly diagnosed with or currently in treatment for lung cancer
  • Survivors of non-small cell and small cell lung cancer
  • Family members and caregivers of those with lung cancer
  • Health care professionals interested in or practicing in lung cancer

The conference aims to discuss the most recent developments in lung cancer treatment, help individuals with lung cancer understand the vocabulary and technical information surrounding the disease, and demonstrate the importance of personal collaboration with health care teams.

The conference agenda includes a range of events designed to address these aims. There will be a talk on how to understand test results and radiology reports, as well as a discussion of advancements in interventional radiology. There will be Q&A panels with oncology experts, and a COVID-19 update for those with lung cancer.

Participants can also attend the conference’s virtual exhibit hall to download resources and speak one-on-one with lung cancer experts.

The conference will feature specialists in oncology, mental health care, and more. Speakers will include physician’s assistants, clinical research nurses, a social worker, a registered dietitian, and other health care experts.

Registration for the Focus on Lung Cancer Virtual Conference is open online.
