It sounds like this has been an incredibly hard week for you and your family. Waiting for news like this is one of the most difficult things anyone can go through — and it makes complete sense that you're feeling overwhelmed right now.

When your dad's care team shares the stage on Wednesday, here's a simple breakdown of what staging means to help you feel a little more prepared:

- Stage 1 & 2 — The cancer is mostly contained to the lung area. These are considered early stages with more treatment options available.
- Stage 3 — The cancer has spread more into the chest, possibly to nearby lymph nodes or structures.
- Stage 4 — The cancer has spread to other parts of the body.

Staging is based on three key things:

- Tumor size — How large is it and where is it located?
- Lymph nodes — Has it reached the lymph nodes?
- Metastasis — Has it spread to other organs?

No matter what stage is shared on Wednesday, knowing it helps the doctors choose the best treatment path for your dad. You're asking the right questions, and being there for him already means so much. 💙

The waiting part for me has been the hardest by far. Once I found out definitive diagnosis after bronchoscopy and biopsy and met with Thoracic surgeon and oncologist and had a PLAN.. felt huge relief. When you have results and a plan you can move forward. Good luck

Thank you so much 💜 we just met with the oncologist today and he had a calming presence and was patient with our questions so we feel a little better after his appointment.

I hope your dad is doing well with his treatment💜
