I was a phlebotomist we were told during training 3 sticks then get another person. By then your patient is upset, your getting upset and if you haven't seen anything by then a fresh set of eyes is what's needed. Try be really hydrated the day of the test. I'd drink 80oz of water if I was you the day before and as close to it the day of to help plumb those babies up. Also stay away for caffeine and alcohol. Best of luck.

I did notify tell the technician. She poked my arm 5 times and I said, Stop, I’m not getting this done today. It really hurt. What can be done? I still have to get this test done.

Hey Cece: I know it's hard withstanding all the poking. When they use a certain size needle for ct/contrast it has to do with the speed of the contrast going into your vain. (I was told). I sing when they poke me with the needle." Pinch and burn", trying to take my mind off of the needle.Its
a necessary evil, I guess.
At the end of the day, I'm grateful to have the insurance to cover testing. With all of its difficulties I try to focus on my goals. An accurate diagnosis, effective treatment and kicking cancer right out!!!
