I had a single nodule in my left upper lung. They first tried a needle biopsy which came back with "abnormal cells", but no definitive cancer cells. As it was suspicious looking on chest CT scans, my surgeon and I decided surgery was best and he would do a wedge to remove the suspicious area for testing. Pathology was"standing by" and tested the wedge while I was under anesthesia and the found cancer cells. Prior to surgery, it was decided that if cancer cells were found, then I chose to have the entire upper left lobe removed. They also removed 6 lymph nodes for testing, which thankfully came back clear and no malignancy. It was a 4 hour surgery on Halloween morning and I was doing so well that I went home the following day!! They placed me at Stage 1a1 . No further treatment needed, just chest CT scans for a number of years. I feel very blessed that it appears to have been caught early.

Thanks so much. I am not sure whether or not we will celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday or not. Now my 92 year old mother is sick. I don't think it is anything serious but you never know, After work today I will be taking her to the med express. My husband was diagnosed in september of this year and has yet to start treatments. I believe he will start them the second week of December. You have yourself a good holiday! You earned it.

That is great news Debra. My husband had his right lower lobe removed and 6 lymph nodes. All lymph nodes non cancerous and all the cancer nodule was removed. Every 6 mths C T scans. No chemo no radiation. I hope you have a great Holiday!
