Members rallied around someone facing stage 4 EGFR NSCLC lung cancer with brain metastases, offering powerful stories of hope and long-term survival that defied initial prognoses. Several members shared their own experiences with targeted therapy like Tagrisso, radiation treatments including gamma knife, and achieving stable disease or no evidence of disease for three years or longer, with some emphasizing that statistics don't define individual outcomes. A recurring theme was taking life one day at a time, maintaining faith and positivity, staying present rather than fixating on timelines, and recognizing that new treatments continue to emerge while energy and spirit endure beyond physical limitations.

I’m not at the end yet but knowing I’ll be on treatment for the rest of my life is depressing after a year in. Best I can say is stay positive! They come up with new treatments and even cures every year. Live every day like it could be your last. But plan goals for the future. Best to have something worth living for.

Be present my dear in each day and don't set your thoughts on your tomorrows and live like your healed and the cells in your body will respond the same way ..see your self whole and living as you wish without the limitations of fear ..

I have stage 4 NSCLC that metastasized to my brain. I went through chemo, radiation and gamma knife radiation for my brain. I have been stable for 3 years. There is always hope. Please don’t put a number on your time. Just try to enjoy your time.

I was diagnosed a little over a year ago with stage 4 NSCLC. They did a biopsy of the tumor in my lung, it was EGFR, which made me a candidate for targeted therapy. Targeted therapy is just a pill a day, which targets all the cancer in your body. Since mine had spread to the brain, it actually made those disappear. The tumor in my lung stayed the same. The pill eventually quits working and then I suppose I could try something else. We'll see.
