Unfortunately that may not be accurate. Once cancer cells occur, and even if removed, vigilance and surveillance are needed throughout your life. Early diagnosis was a major factor for your victory this time. Continuing lung screening as well as to other parts of the body where initial lung cancers may prefer to travel to - brain, spine and bones, etc - is needed. Just live your best life and encourage others to get screened.
That’s exactly how I feel.
My surgeon and the oncologist said I no longer have cancer so I can say “ I had lung cancer”.
But to complicate things, my surgeon says a T1mi is barely cancer
So it’s all confusing
I would like that question answered also. My VATS surgery removed my adenocarcinoma with clear margins. No chemo or radiation needed. Just follow-ups every 6 months for now. Am I considered a cancer survivor? Am I considered to still have cancer or just a history of cancer? Don't know how to classify myself!!
