Has anyone had lung cryoablation?
It sounds much better than radiation, I think. Does the freezing process kill or shrink the nodules?
I have stage 1 nsclc. My nodules are small but still growing. I’ve had 2 lung surgeries, and due to a lack of lung tissue I am can’t have any more surgeries. So my only choices are radiation or cryoablation. My oncology team has determined that cryoablation is the best treatment for where I am at this time. Cryoablation is a process in which they use needles to go into the lung and freeze the nodules. This is just the basic process, it’s actually more involved than that.
It kills the nodules and works best on tumours under 3cm in size. Coupled with immunotherapy to disperse the dead cells.
Its still considered experimental where i am in Australia, but looks good i think.
